Shopping For Car Electronics?

It doesn’t matter if you’re shopping for remote car starters or a new car audio sound system, UniglassPlus/Ziebart can outfit your vehicle with top-of-the-line electronics to help you get the most out of your driving experience.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF REMOTE CAR STARTERS

For those out there curious about remote car starters, this one is for you! Although there are several different types of car starters, they do essentially the same thing at the most basic. There are different models available on the market and some go way beyond just starting your car with a button, but all of them are designed to start your car from a distance so you can enjoy a perfectly warmed up car that is at the ideal temperature for driving when you step in.

The most basic remote car starter is a One-Way Remote Starter with no bells and whistles. This device sends a one-way signal to your car, from up to roughly 800 ft away, which starts its engine. That’s it. If that’s the only thing you want, then the basic level remote starter is all you need.

However, if you’re looking for more options, the basic model can be upgraded with features that let you go further with your wireless experience. You can add a button to lock and unlock the doors, open the truck, sound an alarm, or put the car in valet mode so it can be worked on safely. In addition, you can extend the range of your starter and turn your car on remotely from even further away. Some models can even start your vehicle from up to 3,000 ft away!

The next tier remote car starter is the Two-Way Remote Starter. This starter communicates with your car and allows you to further customize your driving experience. As the signal goes both ways, the starter can relay certain details about your car to you from a distance away, like the interior temperature, battery voltage, open doors, open hood, locked or unlocked doors.

Because they need to transmit information, these devices usually come with an LCD screen big enough to display all the pertinent information about your vehicle. These models are more expensive than their one-way counterparts and can be customized as well. These models can also tell time and be used as an alarm.

The higher tier of remote car starters is the Smart Remote Starter. Smart phones have evolved to a point where they can be used in conjunction with and communicate with our vehicles. This next level of remote car starter has all the bells and whistles of previous models, but with the use of new technology it opens up new possibilities for interacting with your car.

When using a Smart Remote Starter you don’t even have to be near your car to start it! As long as you’re connected to a carrier or a wi-fi network you can start your vehicle from virtually anywhere. Not only that but you no longer have the need to carry around another device with you. You will most likely bring your phone around with you regardless so why not use it for more?

In addition to opening and locking doors, some systems that are compatible with this model allow you to start your car early if the temperature goes below a certain degree, locate your car (in the case it’s stolen), set speed limits for your car, and more!

WHAT CAN MY CAR BLUETOOTH SYSTEM DO?

Everyone knows you shouldn’t drive while on the phone because as drivers we need to be ready for anything on the road. But at the same time, we’re busy these days! We’re constantly multitasking and trying to improve efficiency. So how do you drive and still manage your life while on the road?

A Bluetooth System is a great solution for those of us always on the go. Installing a Bluetooth System in your vehicle means driving in compliance with legislation and being able to make and receive calls. All while keeping both hands on the wheel, you can ask your Bluetooth to call “Kelly” to confirm dinner plans, send a voice message to “Bob” telling him what to pick up for the BBQ on Sunday and tell mom you love her.

But Bluetooth doesn’t stop there either! All while keeping your hands on the 10 and the 2 you can pick out your favourite music, pick a TV channel for the kids in the back of the car, get directions and more.

AUDIO/VIDEO SYSTEMS

If you’re someone who spends a lot of time in the car, it’s a worthwhile investment to upgrade your car’s audio or video system. These days there are many options to choose from depending on the type of entertainment you’re interested in. As far as audio systems go, it’s easy to upgrade your original car speakers to a new set of high-quality speakers or install a power amp. You can change install an MP3 friendly dashboard so you can play your MP3s. Or, if you still have a giant collection of CDs, it might even be worth it to get a CD player installed in your car. (If it didn’t come with one.)

In addition to audio, nowadays there are great ways to have access to video while on the road! You can have screens mounted in headrests, in overhead flip down mirrors or in the front dash. This may seem distracting to a driver, but if you’re travelling with kids then it can be a lifesaver.

The best thing you can do is to talk to a technician about what your expectations are for your entertainment system so they can match you up with the one that fits. At UniglassPlus/Ziebart we make car repairs and upgrades easy. And with all of our nationwide locations, it’s convenient as well.
